HAND POST-IT (1)

POST-IT HANDS.

I have the habit of writing myself handy reminders, lists and general information on my hands. Usually just the dorsal surface of my left hand carries the brunt, but I occasionally branch onto my right hand, in a less coherant scrawl as I sadly lack ambidextrous abilities.
...My mother has always seen this way of organising my to do lists as somewhat unsightly. I actually find a doodled hand quite charming, although after a day, if there remains a faded trace of my reminder to buy cinnamon I am less impressed.
... I consider the lists on my hands to be an important part of my thought process, so I have decided to make a photographic record of this as a way of linking my elective- image and text, to my exploration of the body in my current practise.

QUITE BIG DRAWINGS.

(each 1m x 2m in size approx)

I made these charcoal drawings from photographs I took of people pushing their bodies into my latex stretcher. I also plan to use movie stills as a basis for drawings, as this will further distort and remove the clarity of the shapes of the human form. Incidentally I was wearing latex gloves when I made these drawings.

It is pure coincidence that my drawings have ended up being a simlar size and shape to the large frame which I stretched my latex over, but it again alludes to the idea of things being in proportion to people- that is to say my frame was about door size, bed size or maybe like a table- all things designed to accommodate the average human.

BLOG IT.

I have decided to start my blog as a way of organising my thoughts and ideas this year. I also hope to use it as a way of keeping a record of what work I am producing for my elective and in my wider practise.
